  1. Allergens are Particulate Matter

Allergens abound! Manuka honey can help against the pollen season. Studies indicate that Manuka honey can help soothe and calm your dry throat, cleanse and moisturize your sinuses and nasal passages, and support immune health via its cleansing action in the nasal immune ecosystem.

  1. Throat
  • Cough syrups are notorious for failing to mitigate a cough.
  • Get a different experience with ManukaGuard’s Cough and Throat products: designed to soothe and calm dry, scratchy throats. t
  1. The Gut – A Healthy Gut Microbiome Is Possible
  • The Gut Microbiome needs support to counteract the effect of processed sugars, pharmaceutical antibiotics, sugars, and preservatives in our food.
  • The multitude of oligosaccharides in Manuka honey function as prebiotics that feed our good gut bacteria.
  • Many recent studies indicate dietary polyphenols, through their metabolites, contribute to maintaining gut health by modulating the gut microbial balance. Manuka Honey has polyphenols!
  • Polyphenols enhance the growth of beneficial bacteria and, thus, exerting prebiotic-like effects.

Are you looking for digestive health support? t

  1. Immune System Support
  • Numerous studies reinforce the link between our gut and immune function; 70%-80% of the immune system is located in the gut, but the immune system does its heavy lifting in the nose. Protecting and maintaining nasal hygiene has as much daily priority as washing our hands. WASH YOUR HANDS, WASH YOUR NOSE.
  • Medical Grade Manuka honey and ManukaGuard’s nasal sprays are highly efficient cleansers of THE NOSE. A clean and healthy NOSE is vital to the nasal immune ecosystem and keeping the immune system healthy.

  1. Energy – Eat Energy And Not A Stimulant
  • The sugars in Manuka honey are mostly glucose and fructose and no different than the glucose or fructose in fruits and vegetables. THESE SUGARS DO NOT MAKE FAT.
  • Glucose is absorbed quickly, providing a more immediate energy boost, while fructose has a slower, more sustained effect on blood sugar levels, supporting energy needs over a longer time.
  • REAL ENERGY: The makeup of glucose and fructose makes Manuka honey an excellent go-to as a pre-workout energy boost, or anytime you feel like you need a pick-me-up. ManukaGuard offers a perfect proprietary honey blend for any time. A little more energy is just the thing you are missing. t

THIS IS NOT A STIMULANT, ITS REAL ENERGY

With so many Manuka honey brands in the marketplace, you may wonder what makes ManukaGuard different from other products available online or in the stores.

Here’s an overview of why ManukaGuard is your family's best honey choice.

100% Medical-Grade Manuka Honey

MGO-Tested & Certified

Backed by Scientific Research

Eco-Friendly, Sustainable & Safe

RIGHT Honey for the RIGHT health issue

We ensure that every ManukaGuard product is made with the purest, highest quality Manuka honey from New Zealand. Our farms AND the native wild forests predominantly are mono-floral, meaning there’s no cross-pollination with other plants, then the honey is processed using patent-protected methods to bring it to a medical-grade standard of purity.

Our Medical Grade & dietary supplement grades of Manuka Honey are tested and certified for natural methylglyoxal (MGO). MGO is the naturally occurring compound that makes Manuka honey a powerful natural wellness agent, different than any other honey on the planet.

Every ManukaGuard product is scientifically developed by a hand-picked team and then tested with the guidance of numerous peer-reviewed and published medical research on Manuka honey and its best use to provide safe and effective health benefits.

We care about our bees, beekeepers, and our impact on the environment. As a result, we have measures to ensure our products are created safely and responsibly. These measures include FDA-compliant quality controls and quality assurance.

We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to Manuka honey. We’ve created unique Medical Grade and dietary supplement Manuka honey products containing specific ingredients and MGO content. As a result, each product is targeted to provide a specific wellness benefit.

  1. What Does “Medical-Grade” Manuka Honey Mean?

Medical Grade is a standard of purity that applies to other foods and items in our world, such as silicone.

Medical Grade Manuka honey is super pure. We say we take everything out of the honey that is not; well, to be truthful, we have to leave it at about 18% water as that is its natural state and permits us to work with it. Take all the water out, results in a rock-hard honey brick.

Dr. Molan discovered the potent powers of Manuka honey after observing how the indigenous Maori people of New Zealand used the honey topically on their skin and consumed it to supplement their diet and digestion. Dr. Molan wrote a book on the subject; there is an entire chapter on medical-grade manuka honey. We believe he created and named medical-grade manuka honey and set high standards for farming, harvesting, and processing. t

  1. All Manuka Honey Is Not The Same:

What Is The Difference Between ManukaGuard Honey With A Supplement Panel And Food-Grade Honey With A Nutrition Panel? What Is Manuka Honey?

He reported that the difference among active fraction potency varied as much as 100-fold depending on the geography, seasonality, harvesting, processing, and storage conditions

Correct! All manuka honey is not the same.

As a result of his revolutionary research and reporting, ManukaGuard has implemented several proprietary measures to preserve the active fractions and other unique beneficial parts of our Manuka honey. Our bees live and work in specially designed hives/frames to reduce the quantity of debris they leave behind; this allows for cleaner, easier harvesting.

Medical Grade and ManukaGuard honey vs Food Grade Brand:

ALL ManukaGuard honey POTS come with a Supplement Panel – Dietary supplements supplement the diet.

They have health benefits called ‘structure-function claims’ stated on the label.

Food-grade brands are just that: food. However, this is where MGO or methylglyoxal enters this discussion. MGO is an indicator of the strength of a given manuka honey. You probably do not need a high MGO Manuka Honey.

You need a super clean, efficient ManukaGuard manuka honey.

The higher the MGO, the higher the price. We strive to save you money.

  1. Do I Need A High MGO And Expensive Manuka Honey?

NO!

Each manuka MGO grade can deliver specific health benefits. Why pay for an MGO 850 when an MGO400 provides the same health benefits?

ManukaGuard does not sell jars of honey over MGO 400. We believe an MGO 400 delivers all the health benefits a person needs and that the higher MGO honey should be reserved for medical devices and, one day, manuka-derived drugs.

  1. Processing Essential For Medical Grade As A Clean Room For Processing

When the honey is harvested or extracted from the honeycomb frames, it is refined to a proprietary standard in a clean room instead of being processed in a barn.  It is in our clean room that the honey is purified. The result is a Manuka honey standardized for strength and cleansed for purity.

Finally, our honey is packaged using cGMP standards in an FDA-certified facility located in the USA.

Medical Grade Manuka honey is a healthcare ingredient used in FDA-approved medical devices, health and wellness formulations, and nasal sprays designed to clean the nose.

Then, ManukaGuard takes the honey to an even higher standard by packaging it in a cGMP,  audited, facility.

  1. What Is Manuka Honey?

The Māori, New Zealand’s indigenous people, have a centuries-long relationship with Manuka honey; they call it Taonga or “treasure.”

Manuka is honey with superpowers that few, if any, other honey’s have! It is a rich source of nutrition, containing amino acids, b-vitamins, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, and zinc.  Manuka honey has two to three times more flavonoids and phenolic acids (antioxidants) than other types of honey. In addition, it contains a highly complex and diverse range of varying oligosaccharides that act as prebiotics; it has also been studied for years for its antibacterial properties and active enzymes. t

We believe it is accurate to say that Manuka Honey is the most studied honey on the planet. WHY? Researchers find time after time, test after test, testing all over the world in universities that Manuka Honey is unique.

What makes it different is a chemical found in the nectar called dihydroxyacetone (DHA).  In the hive, and as the hive heats up, this DHA converts to methylglyoxal or MGO, and bingo, we have Manuka honey—the more DHA in the nectar, the higher the MGO.

This fantastic honey is made by European bees that pollinate the Manuka flower, which is native to New Zealand and blooms just 2-6 weeks per year. Manuka honey can only be produced in areas with native Manuka blossoms, so the hives are in some of this country's most remote, untouched parts. To be recognized and certified as Manuka honey by the New Zealand government, the honey is tested for five specific standards.

Most importantly, the tests establish that the honey is not adulterated.

All five attributes must be met to pass the Ministry for Primary Industry’s requirements to be labeled mono-floral Manuka or multi-floral Manuka for exportation. These tests verify that the Manuka honey has not been adulterated and the MGO content is on the product label.

Manuka honey became more widely known for its health properties due to Dr. Peter Molan’s pioneering research at the Honey Research Unit, University of Waikato, New Zealand. Dr. Molan discovered that Manuka honey contains exceptional levels of varying active fractions, making it effective and practical for self-wellness conditions. His peer-reviewed, published research completely revolutionized the Manuka honey industry. It also inspired the launch of our medical-grade Manuka honey wellness products brand, ManukaGuard, in 2010. t

  1. Is Manuka Honey Safe For Everyone?

For most people, Manuka honey is safe and enjoyable to consume. However, we recommend you check with your doctor if you hesitate to add honey-based products to your diet or personal care routine.

Children under one year of age should not consume honey. Diabetics should consult their medical professional before consuming any honey. t

  1. Is Manuka Honey Safe For Pets, Cats, Dogs Even Horses?

Manuka honey may be a safe and beneficial addition to your pet’s diet; we recommend consulting with your veterinarian before giving honey to your pet or using any honey topically on your pet. That said, during the California fires, we sent our medical grade for Bacon the pig at the request of a group of veterinarians. We supplied the Vets with manuka honey; the last we saw of Bacon, he was eating up a storm. t

  1. Buying Manuka Honey

When purchasing Manuka honey, it’s essential to thoroughly research before selecting the right brand for you. With so many grading systems and distinctions, you may wonder if there is a difference between the various Manuka Honey brands on the market.

  • Yes, many differences exist in the many Manuka honey brands on the market.
  • To ensure your Manuka honey comes from a highly credible source, please look for the attributes listed below.
  1. Is the Manuka honey sourced from New Zealand? Real Manuka honey comes from New Zealand.
  2. RAW Manuka Honey is still in the honeycomb. If it is in a jar, it is processed, and once touched by man it is not RAW.
  3. The New Zealand government has replaced the UMF rating system with the MGO rating system because it is a more accurate method of grading honey. New Zealand law requires the MGO to be stated on the label.
  4. Pricing and MGO numbers typically correspond. However, be sure that you check the MGO rating merits the cost.
  5. Be a label reader; natural Manuka honey should only contain Manuka honey unless the label states that it is a blend.
  6. Be sure that there is 3rd party testing on the product. ALL MANUKAGUARD HONEY IS THIRD-PARTY TESTED by Analytica Labs, New Zealand. A Certified Laboratory we trust. t
  1. Is Manuka Honey Expensive?

Manuka honey costs more than the regular honey sold as food.

Manuka honey is a dietary supplement or superfood with health and wellness benefits.

An excellent way to compare is to look at the cost of a dietary supplement; then, you will see that Manuka honey falls right into that same price range. We will pay $45 for a dietary supplement, thinking it a fair price, but a $45 jar of honey may seem very high. We believe a $45 jar of honey will SAVE YOU MONEY over time.

Also, just 5 grams or just one-half teaspoon of Manuka honey, taken an hour before food, up to five times a day, is usually sufficient to generate the health benefit you seek. Add Manuka honey as a very cost-effective supplement to your diet. t

  1. How To Store Manuka Honey?

Manuka honey products can be stored in a kitchen cupboard, pantry, or refrigerator if the temperature range is             10-20⁰C /50-68⁰F. Remember to close the lid tightly after each use. Manuka honey can crystalize over time; however, this does not affect its potency or usability.  Let’s look at the adage: honey never expires.

Well, today, ManukaGuard manuka honey is a regulated product and requires a Best By or Expiration date.

We recommend not using an expired product. t

  1. The Bottom Line

ManukaGuard, a pioneer, is the world’s trusted leader in the Manuka honey science. Our goal is to help you understand the health benefits of Manuka honey so you can make informed decisions regarding which products are suitable for you and your family. Let's SHIFT BASIC HEALTHCARE BACK INTO THE HOME, BACK INTO Mom's HANDS, and remember we are all responsible for our healthcare decisions.

  1. Where Does Manuka Honey Come From?

Authentic Manuka honey is sourced from New Zealand. In August 2018, the country’s Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) set new standards for what can be exported as Manuka honey. With these vigorous regulations, exporting honey that does not meet the New Zealand government standards became more challenging. These rules have benefited Manuka and honey consumers worldwide.

  1. How Does Manuka Honey Differ From The Honey On The Grocery Store Shelf?

In general, all honey is known to have health supporting properties due to hydrogen peroxide activity. However, this is where the similarities between Manuka honey and the honey in the squeezable plastic bear end.

Research has shown that Manuka honey contains many beneficial bioactive properties called active fractions; one of these fractions is naturally occurring Methylglyoxal (MGO), which no other honey contains.

What is MGO?  MGO results from a biochemical reaction that converts dihydroxyacetone (DHA) to MGO in the hive.  A high concentration of DHA is found in the nectar of Manuka flowers; the bees harvest this nectar and deliver it to the hives. When the beehive heats up to 90°F, the DHA converts to methylglyoxal (MGO).  The higher the concentration of MGO, the stronger the active fractions in Manuka honey.

Manuka Honey vs. Grocery Store Honey

Regular Honey

Manuka Honey

Similarity:
Regular and Manuka honey contains health supporting components, including hydrogen peroxide, sugars, and mild acidity.

Differences:

·       Most often consumed as a food or within other foods

·       Lighter in color

·       Originates from clovers or plants from all across the world

·       Easily contaminated and adulterated with corn or rice syrup

·       Loses its antibacterial properties when exposed to heat or light

·       Must be heated so it can be extracted from the beehive’s frames

·       Packed in clear bottles that expose it to light, causing it to lose more of its hydrogen peroxide properties.

Differences:

·       Most often consumed as a natural, drug-free dietary supplement and alternative to certain conventional health products

·       Darker in color

·       Originates from 100% monofloral Manuka in New Zealand

·       Unadulterated and highly regulated by the Ministry of Primary Industries in New Zealand

·       Contains five active fractions called non-peroxide activity

·       Non-peroxide activity is NOT affected when exposed to heat or light

·       Heat does not affect Manuka honey; in fact, it aids in bioavailability and effectiveness. t

  1. Is Manuka Honey the Same As Raw Honey?

The U.S. government does not officially define raw honey; however, it is generally recognized as honey that exists as it did in the hive, in the honeycomb.

It is our considered opinion that honey removed from the honeycomb is no longer RAW honey, as it has been heated to remove it from the honeycomb.

RAW MANUKA HONEY: At ManukaGuard, we believe that raw honey exists only in the wild or bee farm honeycomb frames. Once man takes it out of the honeycomb, it is no longer raw honey but processed honey.  Any claim that the honey is raw is a marketing strategy rather than a statement of purity or more effectiveness. ManukaGuard has studies that show that the cleaner the honey, the more effective it is. GENUINE RAW HONEY contains dirt, pollen, bee body parts, wax, and more; anything the bee returns to the hive.

We believe RAW MANUKA HONEY is manuka honey still in the honeycomb. ManukaGuard’s Manuka honey is purified using a proprietary method that cleans and strengthens the active fractions in the honey. 100% of our honey meets New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries regulations. Our honey is free from GMOs, glyphosates, Gluten, and Antibiotics; it is also 100% traceable back to the hive. ManukaGuard proudly uses New Zealand government-approved Analytica Labs as our 3rd party testing partner.

  1. Is Manuka Honey Gluten-Free? Live To 100, Secrets Of The Blue Zones - Netflix

Yes, our products – and Manuka honey – are gluten-free. No wheat is grown in the wild Manuka forests where the honey hives are located; wheat flowers do not have nectar to attract bees. Manuka trees/bushes are fast-growing, robust plants ubiquitous in the scrub, shrublands, and forest margins throughout the North and South Islands of New Zealand – New Zealand is about the size of California. Manuka trees and bushes thrive in almost all land types, from geothermal areas and wetlands to dunes and dry hill slopes; most flora does not share this ability for survival. Hence the Manuka tree controls its surroundings; meaning manuka forests are monofloral Or have no other sources of nectar for bees to harvest
